Italy Is Putting Pressure On The Euro Currency

The Italian market is under a lot of pressure because the Italian government is running deficits that exceed the two percent guidelines imposed by the Eurozone. I think they're proposed new budget deficit is 2.4 percent of Italian GDP and so this is putting pressure on Italy which is all so putting pressure on the euro currency.

Europe Wants The Euro To Become The World's Reserve Currency

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker just this week said publicly that their plan, their hope is that the Euro becomes a reserve currency that rivals the US dollar because Europe is tired of being depended on the US Dollar.

In fact, he specifically mentioned the fact that 90 plus percent of European payments for oil are made in dollars he says, "Why is this? Why are we buying oil from Russia and paying in US dollars? It makes no sense!" And so Europe wants to wean itself from dollar dependence.

The Bullish Case For The Euro Currency

I think the European Central Bank (ECB) is going to move to a tightening rhetoric, to a tightening bias and they may even start to raise interest rates given how quickly the inflation rate is accelarating in Europe!

The Bullish Case For The Euro Currency

We know that the Bundesbank does not approve the easy money policies, the QE, the negative interest rates that Draghi and the ECB have forced upon them and I believe that rising German opposition as well as rising inflation both in Germany and throughout the European Union will ultimately force the ECB to abandon this monetary policy maybe even at the same time that the Federal Reserve is finally coming to terms or admitting that they are about to ease monetary policy again, they will be cutting interest rates and doing QE4.

The Markets Are Way Overreacting

I think the markets are way overreacting to what the implications are for the U.K. to leave the European Union. (SPDR S&P 500 Index ETF (SPY), SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF (DIA), Euro Currency Futures, EuroStoxx 50 Index)

Swiss Franc Episode: This Is A Lesson

This is a lesson in why central banking does not work, that these types of monetary policies are doomed to fail, that the central banks were trying to swim against the tide and eventually they had to give it up. And this is going to happen with all these managed exchange systems. In fact, Switzerland is a small microcosm of the bigger peg-relationships that are going to end and when they do it will be much more spectacular. This was a tremor. When the Chinese decide to abandon their peg both for the Hong Kong dollar and the Yuan, that is going to be a 10.0 on the Richter scale of economic activity. It is going to be huge!

A Lot Of Disconnect In The Markets

There is a lot of disconnect right now in the markets. I think there is too much confidence in the legitimacy of the U.S. recovery, they are expressing that by bidding the U.S. dollar higher.

The Reason Oil Prices Are Under Pressure

The only reason that oil prices are under pressure is because the dollar is strengthening based on the idea that the entire world is a disaster, except the United States. And so, the world is going into a recession, everybody is taking refuge in the U.S. Dollar and that is suppressing the price of oil.

I think when people come to the conclusion and again they will come to it, I believe, sometime next year, that we are not only going to be the only country not printing money.  We are going to be printing money, more than all the other the other countries combined.

They are selling Euros, they are selling Pounds, they are selling Yen, to buy dollars because they are worried about problems in Europe or japan even though we have the same problems, only bigger in the United States.
