Dollar Weakness, Gold Strength Caught Wall Street By Surprise

The U.S. Dollar closed on the low of the month. The Dollar Index barely held the 93 handle. The Dollar is weak across the board. I think year to date now the Dollar Index is down about 6 percent. Nobody expected this! At least nobody in the conventional Wall Street, fund managers, hedge fund managers. They all expected the opposite. The same thing with gold.

The Bond Market Is Smelling Inflation

Probably the most disturbing thing if I was on the Federal Reserve would be what is happening with long term interest rates. Take a look at yields on the 30-year US. Treasuries. We are now at the highest yield we have been in about 3 months. Why are yields rising?  The economic data is getting weaker, so why are interest rates rising? Because the bond market smells inflation, they smell stagflation. (iShares Barclays 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (TLT))

Gold & Silver: Poised For Another Big Move Up

To me, these markets look as if they are poised for another big, big move up any day. ( iShares Silver ETF (SLV), SPDR Gold Trust ETF (GLD), Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF (GDX), Market Vectors Junior Gold Miners ETF (GDXJ), Newmont Mining (NEM), Barrick Gold (ABX), NovaGold (NG))
